The Fatwa Council is among the pillars of the religious foundations in the world. It plays a significant role in giving rulings to the masses and consultation for the judiciary on the internet.
The Council is not limited by domestic boundaries but extends covering the entire Islamic world. This leading role is best expressed by its records of fatawa from its inception until the present day. Dar al-Ifta receives inquires from all over the Islamic world, as well as foreign students of Islamic law for training.

The Mission of the Fatwa Council is:

- New moon sighting to determine the beginning of the lunar months.
- Issuing religious statements and certificates.
- Answering misconceptions about Islam.

The Council is currently working on a massive project to enter all the written fatawa into its records from the time that the Council was established. The number of total archives has now reached 139, and includes more than 65,000 fatwa. They have been uploaded on the computer, sorted, and undergone strict review. They have been updated using the most modern techniques, and are stored for anyone who desires to read them for their respective research.
